How do bloggers create a Money Making Machine?

There are a multitude of opportunities that are available to bloggers who want a money making machine.

It is common knowledge among those making money with blogging that they should have multiple revenue supports so as to not have all their eggs in one basket. A very successful entrepreneur once told me I had to be concerned with building my own Parthenon. What he meant was that like the Parthenon I needed to add columns of support to my structure. If one column goes it is not as devastating if you have 12 other columns.

The good news for you and I is that it is becoming easier. I want to present you with a few methods that successful individuals are using online.

Blog Network Opportunities – What about joining forces?  Blog networks allow for the opportunity to write with others. It can be difficult to get a good writing opportunity. There are always networks looking for bloggers and they are willing to pay. For those of you who are not as interested in business building while you write this is ideal. Many of the networks are not exclusive, so you if you need to supplement your income by taking on a network that is acceptable.

BBWO (Business Blog Writing Opportunities) – Blogging is so profitable that many companies have blogging staff. However, some companies do not want to take the risk on of an unseasoned blogger. In that case, they approach more seasoned bloggers. You can always check out Bloggers for Hire if you’re looking for this type of work.

Donations – Just about everybody has a tip jar these days. This concept has been around for some time, but no one uses as well as Jason. Take a look Kottke.org. Through his tips Jason quit his day job.

Flipping Blogs – The business communities understands the value of the eyeballs viewing each page of a blog and as such are offering money to take ownership. Enter “blog flipping” – the concept of selling your blog for large sums of money.

Merchandising – Depending on your niche or your following this could be a sizeable income. Many bloggers work with Cafepress to create their branded products. Usually the larger the blog the more merchandise sales.

Consulting, Speaking, and Coaching – You may not even know you are an expert, but someone else may. Blogging has turned the traditional concept of expert first then consulting and speaking on its head. Many times a blogger will simply be writing with the concept of improving their site and be approached for consulting. Over time we will add to this list. Above are 12 opportunities (or Parthenon columns) for you to explore. Earning a measly $5,000 from each column would generate $60,000 a year. Feel free to suggest your own ideas and experiences in comments below.
